bursaries

In response to the shortage of young graduates in South Africa with the necessary skills to fill senior and management positions in the mining sector, the Group introduced their Graduate Development Program in 2012.

Bursaries are made available to help academically able students to meet the costs of tuition and accommodation whilst studying at higher education institutions. These bursaries are awarded to South African citizens who qualify for admission to a South Africa university or technikon to study a bachelor degree or diploma (NQF level 6) and who have at least successfully completed their first year.

The group currently has 4 students under the GTP who have completed their engineering and construction management studies from South African universities through our bursary program.

Mpho Dimpe

BSc: Industrial Engineering (University of the Witwatersrand)

“Apart from the support given through varsity fees and accommodation payment, the best part of the bursary programme was the support given to us through a professional corporate mentor. This allowed us to better our study skills, developed life skills and it prepared us for entry into the working world.” - Mpho

Xoliswa Mphakati

BSc: Mining Engineering (University of the Witwatersrand)

“The bursary from Diesel Power offered me a peace of mind financially, like any other bursary. However, it had a different twist to it because I was not just given money and expected to produce good results but I also got great support from the company which enabled me to perform to the best of my abilities. The company also offered me vacation work which is a requirement for BScEng( Mining). The fact that we had a psychologist from the company helped because university can be emotionally draining sometimes. All in all, I had a great time as a bursary student.”- Xoliswa

Nakedi Rapudi

BTech: Construction Management and Quantity Surveying (University of Johannesburg)

“Diesel Power sponsored my fees, accommodation and food.Diesel Power played an important role in my studies, they were motivating me on my studies even during tough times. I can say DP had been supportive to me in everything especially when I needed it the most.” - Nakedi

Omphemetse Sebogodi

“During my time as a Diesel Power bursar my tuition and allowance fees were always paid on time, and most importantly I received great motivational support throughout the duration of my studies, hence I was able to produce good academic results consistently.”-Omphemetse
